Beyond HIPAA: A Governing Institute Issue Brief
A recent study by Governing Institute, which included interviews with HHS leaders across 41 states and the District of Columbia, on the challenges and benefits of sharing information about benefit program participants with other states revealed the need for a better understanding of the nuances of data sharing regulations.
In response, Governing Institute published this issue brief that helps agencies better understand HIPAA regulations, best practices for states that are interested in sharing data to assist in the prevention of fraud in state public assistance programs and results seen by states that are already participating in multi-state contributory solutions.
